Frank confessed his love for his ex-girlfriend to Ali and left her crying in Tahiti on episode nine of “The Bachelorette” (season six).
The minute Frank saw Ali he told her they needed to talk. Just moments before that moment, viewers saw Ali gushing over her date with Frank, telling them she was head over heels for him. That feeling did not last long.
Relive episode eight of ‘The Bachelorette’ (season six)
Ali looked absolutely devastated when Frank told her that he had been thinking about his ex-girlfriend through the entire process. She looked even more crushed when Frank told her he had visited his ex-girlfriend before traveling to Tahiti. He told her he thought he was going to get closure but found all of his old feelings for her rushing back.
There were a lot of awkward moments watching the two silently cry. Ali didn’t understand why Frank waited until that moment to speak up. She thought it was really selfish. Frank tried to explain to Ali that he thought his feelings for his ex-girlfriend would go away, but Ali wasn’t buying his story.
Ali and Frank shared a long hug before saying goodbye, but Ali’s main priority at that point was getting away from it all to deal with the unexpected heartbreak.
Later, Ali told “Bachelorette” host Chris Harrison that she would have been willing to talk it through with Frank if he had come to her earlier. She said she was angry with him and hurt that he would stay in the game while he wasn’t sure about his feelings. Ali said the situation made her feel weak and hurt the confidence she had in the decisions she was making.

But before his confession to Ali in Tahiti, Frank had to make a stop in Chicago…
In the confessional before leaving for Tahiti, Frank confessed that while developing strong feelings for Ali, his strong feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Nicole, began to creep up. He told viewers he hadn’t been able to eat or sleep because of the feelings that were gnawing at him. He reminded viewers of the strong connection he had felt with Ali since the first day he met her, but he said he couldn’t move forward with Ali until he figured out the feelings he was having for his ex-girlfriend. And with that in mind and in heart, Frank decided to stop in Chicago before heading to Tahiti.
Viewers got to see Frank’s meeting with Nicole. She looked shocked to see him, and while Frank looked nervous, he looked really happy to see her. He told his ex-girlfriend that Ali did not know he was meeting her. He told her Ali didn’t even know she existed. Then, Frank went on and on and on about how great of a connection he had with Ali and how amazing their time together had been, but he told Nicole he couldn’t imagine being without her. The expectation was Nicole would freak out hearing this, but she told him she couldn’t stop thinking about him and was sickened by the idea of him being engaged soon instead.

Frank was honest with his ex-girlfriend. Unfortunately, his honesty
meant he had been thinking about his ex-girlfriend before he went to bed every night, not Ali. The couple moved closer and closer to one another during their conversation, and when Frank’s ex-girlfriend told him to come home, the biggest smile formed on his face.
“I think today is exactly what I needed to realize that I am love with Nicole, and Nicole is the girl I want to be with for the rest of my life,” Frank told viewers. “I feel like everything I’ve ever done and every relationship I’ve ever had… has led to this moment and has paid off.”
