Ever dream of being the next Joan Jett or Lady Ga Ga? Itching to rock out like the guys but never got the chance? Now you can at the Ladies Rock Camp (LRC) in Portland Oregon.
Ladies Rock Camp 2011 will be held from Friday February 18th to Sunday February
For one three day weekend, you’ll join other rocker wanna bees, learn to play, write songs, form a band and perform your own music. The best part is that no musical experience is required when you sign up.
Learn drums, keyboards, vocals and from your own band at Ladies Rock Camp
Think you’re too old? Fuggetaboutit. The minimum age to rock is 19 and many of the rockers are in their 40’s, 50s’ and beyond. At rock camp, you can learn drums, bass, keyboards, vocals and guitar, or improve skills you already have. There’s instruction for beginners and more polished rockers. No experience is necessary. Imagine that ! (Good thing our hearing is going)
Ladies write and perform your own original songs
Not only that, you’ll form a band, write an original song, and perform it at a public Showcase. There’s also a famous Saturday night karaoke party at the Rock Camp, where you can belt out tunes to your heart’s content. No more singing in the shower for you. It’s time to get on stage and rock on out.
Rock Camp features all female staff and teachers for women from across he globe
Women come to Rock Camp from around the U.S. and the globe and it’s all for a good cause. The Ladies Rock Camp is a fund raiser to support the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls. it also is “a unique, fun, team building event for anyone who wishes they could have come to Rock Camp” when they were younger.
Ladies Rock Campers of 2007-9 collectively raised generate almost $100,000 for the Camp, according to information on the website. “This is a great opportunity to network with other lady rockers, form a band, and apply your skills” according to information on the site.

You must apply to be accepted Sign up as soon as you can since only the first 55 applicants per session get in. There are two sessions per year:
Tuition is $375 and sessions fill up quickly. Out-of-towners can stay at a nearby hotel or get matched with a host family for the weekend. LRC may be able to help with local ground transportation.
