In Tampa based erotica author Nicole Austin’s latest title, Summer of the Cougar, she introduces us to Larissa Cross: a schoolteacher and widowed mother who is just about to turn forty. Just back from an erotic romance writers convention, she and several friends set about putting into motion their plan for a little summer fun; a plan that would make the girls at the romance convention proud: They’re each to find a man under the age of forty and . . .have a little summer fun, shall we say?
For Rissa the perfect candidate comes along when her car overheats on a trip to Clearwater Beach. Who should be sent to put out the blaze but a sexy fireman named JD Harmon. And as it seems the attraction is mutual, Rissa hands him her phone number and hopes for the best. A weekend with someone like JD should be just the thing to put her into the ranks of the Cougar, and send the other girls on the Cougar blog into a tizzy waiting for updates. But what’s Rissa to do when JD sticks around, and starts wanting more than just a weekend? And how’s he going to take it when he finds out he’s just part of an experiment for Rissa and her online gal pals?
Will the summer fling be enough, or will Rissa get her head on straight before school starts, and she cuts loose the one guy who might be the best thing that ever happened to her?
With a plethora of steamy scenes and a to-die for hero, I think any reader of the Erotica genre will love Nicole Austin’s “Cougar Challenge” title for Ellora’s Cave (who sent me the copy I reviewed here). And too, it should be a treat for those of you that know some of the Tampa/Hillsborough, and Pinellas County landmarks Ms. Austin mentions. All in all Summer of the Cougar was a fine read, and I look forward to what the talented Ms. Austin offers next.
If you’d like to check it out, you can get a copy at the Ellora’s Cave website, here.
