Amorous Crossings may have “set-sail” on August 11th but the “Gala Performance” on Friday the 13th of August, brought lights, camera and action to the Alhambra Theater & Dining. Playwright, Mark Miller, director Tod Booth Sr. & actors Loretta Swit, Walter Hook, Kelly Atkins, Robert Cook and Larry Fairall contributed their special talents to invoke spontaneous laughter from the audience in a two act, 12 scene production (slide show available when Examiner is ready).
There’s always something to be learned when one attends the theatre and Amorous Crossings is no exception. It’s humorous when four people hammer out the meaning of what a true marriage and courtship should be. Amorous Crossings shows how ‘love’ in close quarters can sometimes get misconstrued. Non-stop laughter filled the air from impromptu and rehearsed lines coming from all five actors whose performance could compare to any Broadway-show troop.
Loretta’s sultry voice recites a line from the play which captures the audience’s attention, “Love should be comfortable. Love should feel like coming home”.
According to the Ministerial Wedding Handbook, “…Marriage is an honorable estate, instituted of God, blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ, and declared by Saint Paul to be honorable among men. It is not, therefore, to be entered into without Holy advice, or lightly, but reverently, soberly, advisedly, and in the fear of God. Let us, therefore, under the seriousness of this act, invoke Divine Presence upon this occasion.”
Too many times people either don’t go into a marriage for the right reasons: Love – or they go into a relationship with ‘infatuation’.
The dinner, atmosphere and newly renovated Alhambra Theatre should be experienced by one and all. It’s not too late to purchase your tickets today.
