…and we’re still not done.
Tonight, the judges each pick 4 acts that they want to give one more shot (because they’ve each had at least two shots already… and blown it).
No, I’m kidding– it’s just so NBC can milk this for all its worth and earn some cash!
Next week the semifinals begin… I promise.
Away we go…
Kruti Dance Academy (Bollywood Dance Troupe) – A very solid performance and pretty entertaining, but to me they’re just missing something. As Bollywood dance troupes go, it’s nothing I haven’t seen before. There’s no ‘wow’.
Rudi Macaggi (Balancing Acrobat) – Good lord, just shut up and do your thing already. On second thought, just go away. He couldn’t be more dramatic, but unfortunately, there’s not much of a payoff.
CJ Dippa (Rapper) – Man, just when I thought this little snot-nosed kid couldn’t get more annoying, I’m proven wrong. He was out of breath, very repetitious, and just plain intolerable.
RNG (Dance Troupe) – I actually liked these guys (well… gals) the first two times around, and I still do. I agree with Howie that they probably don’t have that special something that warrants them moving on… but I think that’ll be a prominent theme tonight. This is the LOSERS round, people!
Harmonica Pierre (Harmonica Musician) – OK, I take that back. This guy is really growing on me. And the fact that he’s so hip that he can learn (and perfect) a hit as recent as Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’? Well, I think he needs to be in the semifinals.
Michael Grasso (Magician/Illusionist) – I was this close to writing about how exasperated I am with magicians, but then he goes and pulls off that little bit of craziness. Well done, sir.
The Hot Shot Tap Dancers (Tap Dancing Group) – Disappointing. I know they have the talent, they just didn’t showcase themselves very well at all. There was no pizazz, no showmanship, just dancing… and that’s not gonna get it done.
Doogie Horner (Standup Comedian) – He’s not funny. He’s never been funny. He never will be funny. Please, can this be the last we see of him? Ever?
Connor Doran (Indoor Kite Flyer) – I thought he was robbed the first time around, and I still do. He’s simply mesmerizing. Sure, the song choice was beyond cheesy (Josh Groban’s ‘You Raise Me Up’), but the talent makes up for it.
Anna and Patryk Ballroom Dancers) – I don’t think they have what it takes to win this thing, but I certainly think they deserve a spot in the semifinals. C’mon America!
Michael and Ashleigh (Aerialists) – If I were Cirque de Soleil, I’d hire them in a heartbeat. I’m not sure what Piers is smoking, calling them a magic act… but whatever.
Swing Shift Sideshow (Sideshow Performers) – I was prepared to have to close my eyes, but instead I yawned. And, Nick– that’s a cleaver, not a hatchet.
So who’s got your vote? Semi-finalists announced tomorrow night.
My top 4:
Michael and Ashleigh
