The discomfort grows. The house in clearly in jeopardy. Such quandaries are now being freely stated by Press secretary Robert Gibbs.
It is not hard to figure out why. Whether or a not a person is an Obama supporter, one thing is brutally clear; he has not listened to the people. The President has placed his agenda over that of the people whom have elected him.
The road map was there for him to follow. Had he and the administration followed it, they would not be in such election year dire straits. The top three priorities for the people entering 2010 were very simple and equally clear:
Strengthening the economy
Improving the job situation
Defending the U.S. against terrorism
Had these three issues been given the priority of the administration’s efforts, the American people would have been far more pleased with the Democrats and Obama Administration. The divergence was that the Obama administration’s policies failed to match what the people wanted the Administration to accomplish. Entering 2010 the Obama Administration had priorities of health care reform, Cap and Trade legislation and immigration reform. Comparatively, these issues were in direct conflict with the American voter. Only 49% claimed health insurance as a top priority (ranked 12th), 28% claimed climate change was a top priority (ranked dead last). Immigration reform collected the top concerns of 40% of Americans and subsequently ranked 19th. It becomes understandable why so many Americans are rapidly jumping off the Obama bandwagon.
The top two American priorities hardly had a chance after the stimulus was proven to have failed so egregiously. In the wake of the epic stimulus failure is persistent unemployment and weak private sector growth. No different than any other stimulus. Another epic Obama administration failure unnerving the American voter was protecting the nation against terrorism. The concern was met by the bitter reality that Homeland Security is nowhere close to keeping America as safe as they claim they are capable of. There is nothing more awakening than a “diaper bomber” followed by a terrorist attempt in Times Square that was discovered not by our astute protective agencies [though they assumed credit], but by a vendor.
Looking back, Obama and his sinking Democrats never had a chance to retain the favor of the American voter. They were never in sync with them to begin with. The voter was duped; especially when it came to health care reform.
The Obama supporter stood tall applauding when he criticized then Sen. Hillary Clinton during a debate for her position to “mandate” health insurance as he claimed he would never put an American in such a perilous economic position. He then of course forced it on the people by manipulating every available resource at his disposal in which to secure a victory on an agenda item he once so unreservedly stood against. As the truths of health care reform surface, the American voter realized he was never who he represented himself to be.
Moreover, the Obama Administration’s top priorities have been one epic failure after another. The “Party of No” is blamed, but the American voter is smart enough to know it is much more than one party which does not hold the majority that is at play. The fiscally crippling truths of health care reform, defunct Cap and Trade based on a farce of “manmade global warming” that suddenly saw reemergence in the name of the Gulf disaster. To add insult to Cap and Trade injury, President Obama emulated a Jimmy Carter-like speech to regain support of legislation that his own Alma mater claims will sky rocket gasoline prices to $7 a gallon at the pump.
In Arizona, the battle over immigration enforcement versus the federal lawsuit to demand the state ignore the issue still wages. There, the truth is known as well. The American voter is more aware of the devastating financial impact of illegal immigration and has read where the Obama Administration objects to the Arizona law due to foreign policy being more important than the solvency of any given state. To add insult to immigration reform injury, the DoJ has stated where they are contemplating filing a second lawsuit based upon racial profiling – in a law that has yet to be enacted. The voters today are smarter than the voters of 2008; such low brow schemes on the part of the Obama Administration are only fueling the fire of betrayed voter frustration.
When an administration has failing top priorities that do not match that of the people’s priorities, it becomes improbable that the sinking ship can be saved – the American voter will gladly perform the scuttling. The concerns are more than priorities in many cases; the concerns are about America’s future.
For the first time in American history, an older generation feels there will be less opportunity for a forth coming generation. Hope is lost. There is merit to such a concern given the Obama Administration’s ideal of how to generate tax revenue to support their lack of fiscal repsonisibility. Americans are now looking at the single largest tax hikes in history while they are being told that allowing the Bush tax breaks to expire; is not the Obama Administration raising their taxes. The American voter is simply tired of being treated as if they are too apethetic to understand what is actually happening [being done] to them.
As Mort Zuckerman, a once devout and deep pocketed Obama support has said, “Thus far, Obama has done everything wrong.” Perhaps it is not that he has done things incorrectly that is causing the distention. It may be that he does everything precisely has he has always intended to. His sales pitch is what got him elected, what he did thereafter became a mere matter of time. What America is seeing is the real Barak Obama and his agenda that is a step further away from Americanism and Constitutionalism than the voters were fooled into believing. Hope is lost because America voted to be helped over electing the God given American opportunity to first help their selves.
