At 63%, American public opinion is more favorable to Israel than at anytime since 1991, when Israel was attacked by Scud missiles. This peak is not a large increase. It comes mostly from formerly undecided and from independent and Republican voters.
Fewer Americans than before believe peace is attainable. That sentiment is higher among Democrats than among the other categories (IMRA, 7/31/10).
What makes Americans different from Europeans about this? This is a serious question that would not be answered by flippant conspiracy theory about Zionists controlling the media, some of whose anti-Zionist content I have been reporting for years.
