“I’m Missy, and you may not notice me as you pass my cage at Tri County Humane Society because I’m very shy and often stay in the back where I feel safer. I was brought here to the shelter as a pregnant stray and I had some cute puppies who all found homes quickly. Luckily, they came into the world without the fears that I collected from a bumpy life. Because I’m shy and a little frightened, I’ve been overlooked here for three long years. They take good care of me and I’m a staff and volunteer favorite, but a girl needs a real home. I know there’s someone out there with the gentle patience to adopt me and be my hero and best friend. I’m sweet and loving and just a bit cautious and set in my ways. I get along fine with older, gentle kids and with cats and other nice dogs. Housebroken, spayed, and about 65 lbs., I’m ready to join your family. Adopt this pretty, brindled-faced girl who just needs her big break.”
Missy is one of the ‘long timers’ who land in a shelter but somehow get overlooked time and time again. Lucky for her, she’s got a home at Tri County Humane Society, a Boca Raton no-kill shelter, for as long as she needs it, but shelter life is not meant to be permanent. Stop in and meet Missy Tuesday thru Sunday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Tri County, 21287 Boca Rio Road, Boca Raton.
Can’t adopt Missy but want to help homeless pets? Good news…you can eat, drink and socialize to help Tri County’s animals by attending their ‘PAWS for the Cause’ events.
The next event will be held August 24th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Latitudes Ocean Grill. The poolside, oceanside lounge and restaurant is located in the Highland Beach Holiday Inn at 2809 S. Ocean Blvd, Highland Beach. (Between Spanish River Boulevard and Linton Boulevard). The fun will take place at the Cabana Bar. Although many PAWS events are pet-friendly, this one is for humans only, please.
‘PAWS for the Cause’ holds monthly events to raise funds for Tri County Humane Society. 100% of the proceeds go to the care and medical needs of Tri County’s homeless pets as they wait for their forever homes. Tri County is a private shelter that relies on donations and fundraisers to save as many animals as possible, and donations this year are down 70%. Have a great evening mingling with like-minded people in a gorgeous, tropical atmosphere and know that you are supporting the cause.
Donations for the evening are $10 for members, $20 for guests, and $35 if you’d like to attend and join. Included in the donation to Tri County is your first cocktail and scrumptious appetizers. Raffle prizes donated by Life’s Abundance Pet Food, PetTech First Aid and Emergency Training, and TD Bank will be won by lucky attendees.
