For those of you who have been craving a taste of Poland, you will be thrilled to enjoy the newly opened Polish Kitchen located in Harbor Springs. This hearty and filling cuisine is expertly prepared by the Bebenek family who emigrated from Poland 14 years ago and settled in Northern Michigan.
The menu has a vast selection of Polish favorites. A great way to sample the best of the menu is to try the Polish Platter which offers grilled Kielbasa served with sauteed onions, a variety of six Pierogi served with either garlic or plain sour cream and topped with onions and bacon, and a stuffed cabbage roll topped with either a zesty tomato or creamy mushroom sauce. All for the very reasonable price of $10.50.
Each dish on the platter can also be ordered separately for those that want a lighter dish or happen to be on a diet (this is not exactly diet food however) and the staff is very accomodating and helpful when explaining the options.
The Polish Kitchen is open for lunch and dinner and luncheon items offer a selection such as Kielbasa on a Bun, Cutlet Sandwich with either breaded pork loin or chicken breast and several other sandwiches. There is also a kids menu with pierogi, dumplings or grilled cheese and kids seem to love the pierogi.
Make sure to save room for the famous desert crepes served at the Polish Kitchen. The Fruit Crepes offer a selection such as apples or berries topped with whipped cream and powdered sugar. Even more decadent are the Cheesecake Crepes which are not only beautiful but taste as good as they look.
Residents and visitors alike will love the homemade taste of the Polish Kitchen, open year round in the beautiful summer and winter resort of Harbor Springs.
