A dwarf lime tree can make it without dieing back
These trees are an attractive tree and can be growned with maintenance. They are a fruit tree bearing, the green colored lime fruit. They can be grown in El Paso. They are low maintenance, though they do require attention. They will give the harvest that is desired, with water, protection, fertilizer (organic fertilizer for eating the fruit / fertilizer to help produce fruit) and sun.
They are a tree designated for the ground. Nevertheless, they can be grown, maintained and kept from the frost of the winter, if grown in a large oversize planter pot, preferably plastic potter. They need shelter from the direct hot sun, draft, wind, and cooler temperatures. For instance, pick out a designated area specifically under a porch covering, balcony covering, a terrace covering with a back wall; the wall will provide added heat in the winter.
That is the key; the shelter protects it from the sun, though it needs some sun to produce it fruit and rowth. Though, the sun not bad, as the cold can be, they are not meant to handle the cold temperatures. However, it is possible to help them to adapt to it with help.
First, initial purchase and bringing it home it will need time to adapt from a nursery or garden center setting to now a new place. Moreover, with that in mind, make provision to help the dwarf lime tree get accustomed. If purchased in the winter months, definitely bring it out in the daytime time hours when the days are warmer and bringing it indoors at night to adjust to what it was used, too. To place it outdoors without preparation will shock it and it will say goodbye.
Also, for the established for more than a year tree or to the tree just brought home can be covered at night in the colder months to help cause a greenhouse affect, then removing the cover in the morning / daytime, if it appears that it needs help with the cold weather.
The seasons in El Paso vary with winter’s coldness. A notification, if the tree does not like the cold then much yellow leaves will start appearing and/or the lost of almost all the leaves. It is possible, once adapted it will hold it leaves and color with proper attention and maintenance given.
